Current IT infrastructure

• 270 Workstations (1 PC to every 5 students)
• Management operating system uses Research Machines Connect 2.3 on a Windows NT platform.
• Workstations run on Windows 95/98
• ICT Training Server uses Windows NT with Windows 98 on workstations
• Admin and Student networks share the same servers

WAN and LAN Specification

• TC Trust Net Broadband E1 line to internet via a Cisco 1603 router
• CAT5 cabling throughout for short runs
• Backbone and inter-building cabling uses multi-mode fiber
• 10Mb Hubs with up to 30 workstations sharing this bandwidth
• Majority of NICs are 10/100Mbs

Network Security

• Security is implemented by way of software and hardware restrictions

Current Network Software

• Research Machines Connect 2.3 for management
• Email for communication
• Office 97
• Subject specific software

Rooms

• All rooms have solid walls (Brick or Breeze block)
• All rooms have fluorescent lights except computer rooms, which have specialist regulation

• All rooms have suspended ceilings
